About Our Theme
2021 Theme: Leave Nothing to Chance
Legendary quotes are part of America’s Cup folklore. “There is no second” is the famous reply given to Queen Victoria in 1851 to explain the real meaning of winner-takes-all. “Leave Nothing to Chance” could well be the motto of every team competing in the 36th America’s Cup. The debut of the high-flying AC75 class means the margin for error has never been finer.
During Term 1, 2021, New Zealand will be hosting the America's Cup event. The Prada Cup Challenger Series runs from 15 January to 22 February 2021 and the America’s Cup itself runs from 6 to 21 March 2021. Therefore, with New Zealand hosting an international sporting event, Arahoe educators look to develop a connected curriculum by creating learning opportunities that look to the America’s Cup as a real-life context for building science, technology, engineering, and maths capabilities for young people. Concepts like kotahitanga, teamwork and working as a collective, as well as gaining important water skills for life and safer boating skills will also be explored this year.
