Arahoe School - Site Closure

Weekends: 22 & 23 February and 29 February & 1 March.

This weekend a group of specialist demolition contractors will be working on the roof of the main block (our current building site) removing asbestos from under the old roof. This has been discovered by the roofing contractors who are fixing the new roof. The work only affects two classrooms. These were the first two rooms built on this site in 1958.

Although the contractors will take all of the safety precautions necessary the school site will still be closed while the work is in progress. Signage will be in place.

At the end of this period of work the contractors will clean the site and issue a certificate guaranteeing that the site is completely safe from contamination. No asbestos removal will occur whilst the school is open and all work will be encapsulated when the contractors are not active on the site. It is very likely that this work will extend into the following weekend as well.

Welcome to Arahoe School

Arahoe School first opened with four classrooms in 1958 to provide for the growing urban population between New Lynn and Green Bay. During the subsequent years our school has grown considerably and now has a student population of just over 800.

At the heart of our school are our people. Our school community is a vibrant, dynamic and supportive one. Examples of this can be found in our talented Board of Trustees, Arahoe School Community Group (ACG), our highly professional staff and that which makes us unique, our wonderful students.

I hope you enjoy browsing our website and ultimately, being part of the Arahoe School community.
