Since opening 1956 with just four classrooms, our school has grown considerably. The student roll at the end of 2008 is expected to be 615. Arahoe is a decile 5 school catering for students between the ages of 5 - 11 who primarily live within the school's 'home zone'.

In 2008 the Board of Trustees will be consulting with our community on the development of an enrolment scheme for the school to ensure that students who live within our home zone will have preferential entry to the school. A ballot system will be used to allocate positions to children wishing to attend from outside of our school zone. You will see, as you traverse this website, that the school is fortunate to have many purpose-built facilities such as a top quality library and ICT room along with a futures orientated learning centre. The school also has a hall, a soon to be refurbished, and solar heated, swimming pool, plenty of hard-court space and large fields.

Of course, a school is much more than property. At the heart of our school are people. The Arahoe School community is a vibrant, dynamic and supportive one. Examples of this can be found in the talented and supportive Board of Trustees (the governing authority of the school), our Parent Support Group (who lead fund raising and community events), the highly professional staff and our great students. (Described by Education Review Office reviewers, in 2007, as; "Students who are articulate, confident and friendly. They are respectful and relate well to adults. They report that they enjoy learning and work on tasks with enthusiasm.") Our very supportive school community has not only achieved great facilities for the school, it has also been responsible for excellent teaching programmes that allows our students to achieve so very well.
